My residency project is as follows:
An Ecological Eye: How Art Meets Ecology in Berlin?
It's about city.
It's about urban life.
It's about how we adapt to the increasing impact of Climate Change.
Since 2007, my artistic practice has increasingly focused on environmental issues and community engagement. Over the years, I have collaborated with farmers, fishermen, salt workers, environmentalists, professionals from various disciplines, and fellow artists. These experiences have deeply inspired my work and led to the publication of two books on ecological art. One explores the development of ecological art in Britain through research and investigation, while the other presents a case study of an ecological art project along the southwestern coast of Taiwan.
In recent years, I have returned to urban life and am now based in Taipei. My attention has shifted toward ecological concerns within the city, particularly the regeneration of urban forests. Several initiatives highlight the collaborative efforts between volunteers and relevant organizations. Although this movement is still in its early stages, it represents a promising step toward a more sustainable urban future.
Berlin, as we all know, is a capital rich in historical and cultural significance. In the face of the growing threat of climate change, I find myself asking: How are people adapting? And how are artists responding?
To explore these questions, I plan to immerse myself in Berlin’s streets and green spaces, engaging with the city’s atmosphere and connecting with relevant individuals and communities.
